Name new painting CONTEST

Hi!!

I have posted a pic of my newest painting both on my website and on Myspace. However, even tho I know what this painting means, I seem unable to come up with a name for it. So here's the deal!

You name this painting!! Post your painting titles on myspace under the painting, in My Art Album, and next Thursday (yes Thanksgiving), I will announce the winner and notify them via Myspace. What do you win? Well, I thought you would never ask!!

Besides naming the painting, you will win a print of your choice off of the website. You can choose any print up to a 10 x 15.

So get busy, put your thinking cap on, name this painting, and win a print.

Myspace address is www.myspace.com/blackorchid1905
Website address is www.dzaet.com

Thankyou all so very much for the help. And have fun!!!

Lazy Journal keeper

Well, I have proven to myself that I am a lousy journal keeper. Is that a real phrase? Journal keeper? Or would that be journalist? Whatever, I am no good at it!!

So much has happened since I opened up this website. I have done several shows, and my work is now in the new ArtWhino gallery in DC..... Alexandria, to be exact. It has been a whirlwind of events, and frankly, I have not quite kept up with everything. I am still in the disbelieving stage.

My art is moving along. I havent really changed my subject matter much, I suppose I have a lot of emotional things that still need to be expressed. So, until I tire of it, I will continue along this path. I would like to delve into the surreal world a bit more. I use symbolism without thinking much anymore, it has just become part of how I paint.

I have found that my creativity lies in a delicate balance of business and shows. Marketing yourself is a tough job. It requires a lot of time, and unfortunately takes its toll on the amount of time left to paint. I dont like that part of this. I love doing shows, but a part of me longs to be back, just painting for the love of it!! Oh well. Someday, when I am famous, I will have someone to take care of this business for me, while I stay in the world of canvas and paint.

I am so fortunate to be a part of this art world.

Thankyou to everyone who drops in and takes a look around here. It dosent matter if you like my work, what matters is that it is here for you to either enjoy or not. It is here.

Painting Chosen for Internation Juried Exhibition...

I am so insanely happy!! One of my pieces of art has been chosen to be in the ArtKudos international juried competition!! I am really beside myself. I will be notified within the next few weeks if the painting wins anything. But I feel like I will win either way!! Even without being chosen for a prize the painting will remain in their online exhibition for 1 year.

This is why, for the moment I have removed the price from the painting, until I see what happens! Peter Trippi, editor of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine will be judging. The exhibit begins on Aug. 15th. I will post again once the date is nearer!!

I am so very excited.

Here is the painting, entitled, "The Battle Within"

Painting on Auction!!!

Well, here I am, as promised with a painting on ebay. I have never auctioned off anything before much less a painting. This should prove out to be an interesting week. Perhaps it wont sell at all, now how will I feel about that??? Oh well, as the old saying goes.... Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Anyway, I hope someone comes along who would like to own it. If you like the painting, it IS a great opportunity to own it for small change.... If you would like to buy it outright, just get in touch with me, we will work out something....

Ah well, off to work on yet another painting. While I am painting, you should go drop off a bid on the painting.... heeheeeee.

An introduction and my plans...

Hello, I am pleased that you are here to get to know a little about me and my plans. Like I said on Myspace, I am an artist in a hurry. I suffered with panic disorder most of my life and only in the past 2 years have regained some semblance of life. I began painting fine art again this February. I feel like I have arrived home after a long, lonely, perilous trip.

If you have looked, I mean really looked, at any of my paintings, the vast majority of them are about me and my life. Hopefully this phase will soon pass, and I will be painting many many different things. My style tends toward surreal, and symbolic, although I will always make time for the occasional Victorian portrait.

I am heading into a series of paintings about psychological disorders. I thought this to be an interesting step from my own past into the next thing. I will intermittently do some "eye candy" paintings, and again, the occasional Victorian portrait.

I am planning on selling some origonal artwork on E-Bay. If it goes well, I will sell as much on E-Bay as is wanted. I am hoping to have the first painting up for auction within the week. I will post it here in my journal, and also on Myspace.

My next painting will be called Split Personality. It will be a fun look at the dreaded disorder. I am off now to begin the sketching phase, and hopefully will have the finished painting ready to be viewed by the end of the week.

Thankyou for stopping in. If you ever have any questions or things you would like to talk about, feel free to contact me via the website.

It is so nice to meet you....
